I am Josh Geving AG9K. I have recently been promoted to EC for Polk County. I originally got into ham radio because of Skywarn. I have found, however, that I enjoy many of the different aspects this hobby has to offer. I am intrigued by the many different ways to solve the problems we encounter.Over the two years I have been in this hobby, I have seen the how much the everyday things we do can help in an emergency. We don’t realize it most of the time. The Polk club members have many different interests and skills learned. I look forward to working with each member that is involved with Ares/Races to find new ways to work together as a team and serve Polk County Emergency Management. I hope to build on what Chris KC9NVV was working on in his time as EC.
I have a few other things I do with my spare time. I lead the technical committee at Bethany Lutheran. That position has given me some valuable skills. Learning the difference between leading a team in a professional setting vs. a volunteer setting has been very rewarding. I am currently attending WITC in New Richmond, studying Business Management. I am meeting lots of interesting people along the way. I am hoping this new position will lead to some new friendships as well. I

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Chris Keezer. I have been appointed as the new DEC for Northwest WI. I live in Osceola WI which is in Polk County. A little background about myself, I have worked in and with Law enforcement, EMS ,and Fire for over 20 years. I have worked in the Security and Process service industry for over 6 years. I received my Ham License in 2008 and I wanted to get in to ham radio to help the public when severe weather comes and for when emergency communication is needed. I look forward to working with all of you. I would hope that if I can be of help that you would just ask. I look forward to working with all of you and making the NW district the best that it can be. I want to thank Ed KB9KJE for the years of service that he has provided to the WI ARES/RACES he has left me big shoes for me to fill as the DEC for the NW district.I thank you for your time.

Greetings everyone! I am Jon Kreski – AB9NN - the new EC for Outagamie County (Appleton, WI area). I come to the new position with a diverse set of experiences. I was born and raised in Iron River, Michigan spending a good deal of time skiing at Ski Brule (primarily), fishing and listening to shortwave radio transmissions of all types on the tube receiver my parents received as a wedding present in the 1940’s.
In skiing I learned cold weather emergency response, first aid, disabled chair lift and injured skier evacuation and search and rescue via serving 9 years on the National Ski Patrol at Ski Brule. That included serving as Patrol Director one year and patrolling virtually every weekend for nine years. We won outstanding patrol the year I was Patrol Director. We did two chairlift evacuations via ropes and an evacuation device and did hundreds of injured skier evacuations via toboggan and skis. I also was the captain of my high school West Iron County Wykon Ski Team.
I learned more radio and electrical skills via CB radio, installing tape players in cars, etc.. I graduated from Michigan Technological University in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a minor in Finance. I’ve spent most of my working career in auditing including 9 years with Shopko Stores that included being their IT Auditor for three years. I have also been a Financial Analyst and a fully licensed (series 7, etc.) Stock Broker with Robert W. Baird & Co..
I have been a ham radio operator for about 5 years and have been a member of ARES for about 4 in Brown and later Outagamie counties. I am proud to say I am an Extra class ham radio operator with a lot to learn. Ham radio is quite a diverse hobby.
I have served ARES in two post-storm activations, numerous severe weather nets, a good number of races for communications support, etc.. In work, church and sports I have worked in and with a good number of teams and taskforces. I believe in helping my community with my skills and believe strongly that every team member brings something of value to the table. Constant improvement is a goal. I believe in working with emerging technologies that can be relied on.

Chippewa County
I was born and raised in Milwaukee and began my undergrad career at UWEC in January of 1961. After graduation from EC I started my graduate work at UW-Stout in the School Psychology program. While at UWEC I met my future wife, Lynne KC9LLM, who was / is from Chippewa Falls. I worked as a School Psychologist for about 5-6 years and then began my administrative career as a part time and finally full time Director of Special Education and Pupil Services for the Chippewa Falls Public Schools. The majority of my administration credits are from UW-Superior.
I taught night school for District 1 / Chippewa Valley Technical College for around eighteen years in addition to graduate summer school courses at Superior and Stout. I retired from Public Education in 2002 and became the GED / HSED Chief Examiner for five area County Jails since 2008 (a part time private contact position that sounds more complicated than it is). I also continue as a part time professional photographer.
My beginning in Ham Radio was in 1956-57 as a Technician back when the written examine was the same as the general class test but the code requirement was the same as the novice class (5 wpm). My original call was K9JRW (the first time it had ever been issued). After graduate school, with a new job, a wife, and then a family I drifted away from Radio but never lost my interest. Actually over the years I purchased 3 or 4 different license manuals with the intention of getting started again. When the F.C.C. changed the rules allowing people to claim the credit for having previously passed the general written exam, passing the current Technician class test and proving they were listed in an old call book, to receive a current general class ticket I thought I better get my butt in gear. I took the new Tech test at Menomonie and was relicensed as KC9DNY.
My original call remained unissued until about fours months before my new license was issued. It was claimed by a person from Florida (his initials). When I went looking W9JRW was available and that was close enough for me. Then I passed my Extra Class Test. I am one of the five founding members of the Chippewa Valley Amateur Radio Club and served as Secretary, Vice President, President, Constitution / Bylaws Chairman, and now past President.
I was the AEC under Ron Anderson and chaired the Committee to create the CVARC Tax Exempt status and Hospital amateur radio project for Chippewa County. My reintroduction to amateur radio Included a steep learning curve from tubes and hard wiring to transistors and integrated circuits. I have a great sense of gratitude to my Elmer and close friend Ron Anderson W9RMA, Gale Sorum WD9HFT, and Joe Eide KB9R.
I look forward to working with you all as the EC of Chippewa County with a special eye to increasing the ARES/RACES involvement and strength throughout the entire County. My thanks go out to Ron Anderson for recommending me for the position of EC and to Gale Sorum who has agreed to be the AEC for Chippewa County. To surrounding Emergency Coordinators of ARES/RACES and Emergency Managers,
I would like to extend greetings to my neighbors from Green Lake County. My name is Kevin Graham. I have spent 20+ years in the fields of Fire, HAZMAT, and EMS. In 2004, I started down the path of amateur radio by joining up with Waushara County ARES/RACES as AEC. The year of 2007 brought me the opportunity to become EC of Marquette County ARES/RACES. In 2008, I gained more experience, as Deputy Director of Emergency Management for Marquette County, holding that office for two years. My wife, KC9FWF and I recently moved near Berlin. I would like to say that the view of this corner of Green Lake County is extensive, and I think we are going to like living here. I would like to continue working with ARES/RACES, and as Green Lake County had a vacancy, I thought I would put my experience spent in Marquette County as EC to work here. So, I am extending this to you all to say that I hope to be sitting down with my neighbors and getting to work to make the connections for emergency communications stronger in this area for the benefit of local and state agencies as well as the citizens of our communities.

West Central District Emergency Coordinator
Hello everyone,
My name is Ron Anderson - W9RMA, I have met many of you at the quarterly district meetings. I encourage you to attend the meetings as often as you can.I have recently been appointed as the West Central District Emergency Coordinator. My background includes graduating from Chippewa Falls High School and later from Chippewa Valley Technical College, Eau Claire in Electronics and Computer Programming. I'm not sure why I didn't follow my chosen field but after various jobs, I was hired by the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department.
I worked there from 1968 to 2000 when I took my retirement. During my time at the Sheriff's Department, I worked as a dispatcher/jailer, patrolmen and finally as Sheriff of the county at the end of my career.
I attended the National Sheriff's Institute in CO after being elected Sheriff and attended classes in administration there. I also attended the National Sheriff's Institute in Court House and Jail Security.
I have been a ham since 1962. I was originally licensed as WN9CMJ (Novice) then WA9PAM (General) and finally W9RMA (Extra). I have served as past president, vice-president, and treasurer of the Chippewa Valley Amateur Radio Club. I have also been the past Chairman of the CVARC Tailgate. I have worked as the Chippewa County EC for sometime now.
