About Kyle:


First licensed as a ham radio operator in 2010, Kyle has been dedicated to emergency communications. He began his ARES/RACES career in 2010 as an Assistant Emergency Coordinator and then as Emergency Coordinator in Winnebago County until he moved to Madison in 2016. He also served as an Assistant District Emergency Coordinator for East Central Wisconsin from 2014 to 2016. During his tenure, he worked to improve relations with the served agencies in Winnebago County, especially the 4 Hospitals. Kyle has served on the Wisconsin Emergency Management SIMCOM planning committee since 2014, and as one of the communications operators for the State Radio Office, WC9AAG. He received an appointment as an Assistant Section Manager in November 2017 and most recently was appointed Section Emergency Coordinator and Deputy Chief Radio Officer for Wisconsin ARES/RACES in June 2018.

Kyle has served on the board of directors and led two non-profit, tax-exempt organizations promoting improved communication systems for ARES/RACES. He currently serves as President of WeComm, Ltd., an all-volunteer organization that is building and maintaining communication systems for WI ARES/RACES.

Professionally, Kyle is a Clinical Engineer who maintains and repairs patient care systems, and radiation delivery systems for both imaging and cancer treatment. He started his career at Affinity Health System in 1995 and in 2015 was hired by UW Hospitals and Clinics in Madison to support the Radiation Therapy department. He has experience on a wide variety of systems from nurse-call and telemetry monitoring to CT, MRI and linear accelerators. He also assists the Emergency Management department with the hospital’s radio communication systems.

Kyle’s education has been a mix of both college and manufacturer training schools. He attended Milwaukee School Of Engineering for Biomedical Engineering and Business Management and has been trained on various system platforms and modalities by GE, Philips(Picker/Marconi), Fuji Medical and Varian Medical Systems.

Kyle and his wife Leona live in Black Earth, Wisconsin with their 2 daughters, Emma (KC9YGJ) and Cora.

Kyle has dedicated his career to keeping patients, family, friends and communities safe.
